Okinawa, Japan has an alarming rate of homeless animals. The rate at which Animal Control kills these animals is even more alarming. This problem in Okinawa is immense, due partly to the abandonment of pets by military personnel and civilians. Okinawa has one tenth of the amount of homeless animals that Tokyo does. However, the number of animals that are put to sleep in Okinawa is three times more than that of Tokyo. Japan is greatly behind the United States and European Countries on the subject of Animal Welfare. Living in Okinawa can be a tragedy of the heart for animal lovers and even more of a tragedy for the animals.

PUTT FOR PAWS A ROARING SUCCESS

Date:

Friday 9th of May saw a few steely volunteers hit the Awase Meadows golf course at 5.30am. We were greeted by the very capable and friendly staff of the facility. Players arrived eager to get started and a little before 7 the competent Jeff Baker went through the guidelines and rules. Armed with 'mulligans' and 'strings' a calvacade of golf carts streamed through the morning traffic and the games began.OAARS Board and appointed coordinators would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the very generous course mangager Rich Erlund and all his staff at the Awase Meadows Golf course.THANKYOU
